Donald Lee Massey went to be with the Lord, February 7, 2025 surrounded by his family and his furry friends, Augie, Walker and Bo.
Visitation will from 10-11 am. Saturday February 22, 2025 at the Wheelan-Pressley Funeral Home and Crematory in Milan, Illinois. Funeral service will follow at 11 am and will be livestreamed at https://vimeo.com/1056044719/60cd50deee. Burial at Illinois City Cemetery, Illinois City, Illinois with luncheon to follow at the Illinois City Hall.
Don was born January 17, 1944 to Glenn and Imogene Massey in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Don graduated from Rockridge High School in 1962 in a class of 62. He attended Muscatine Community College before enlisting in the Army. He was stationed in Germany for the majority of his enlistment working on NIKE missiles. It was there that he married Cristina Strauss and accepted her daughter Diana as his own. They later divorced and he married Patricia Tindall. His son, Brian arrived through their union. They later divorced and he married Joanne Bradley. They then welcomed Jonathan and Joshua.
He was employed by Farmall in Rock Island before and after his service in the Army. When Farmall closed he transferred in 1987 to the Springfield Ohio Navistar plant until his retirement in 2006.
Don is survived by his wife Joanne, daughter Diana(Brian) Punch of Oak Harbor, Washington; Brian Massey, Taylor Ridge, Illinois; Jonathan (Brooke) Massey of Cape Coral, Florida; Joshua (Daniele) Massey of Springfield, Ohio; grandsons Evan, Logan, Dalton Massey of Springfield, Ohio; granddaughters Madison and McKenzie Beeler of Springfield, Ohio; brothers, Jack (Rhonda) Massey of Reynolds, Illinois; WC (Dub) and wife Cindy Massey of Nichols, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends; Bill Stewart, Dick Moroney and Stephen Wideke.
Don was preceded in death by his mother, father, brother Mike and sister Glenda.
Special thanks to Sherry Powell, caregiver and great friend and Dayton Hospice for their exceptional care of Don, especially Jamie, Hailey and Vonne for their help and guidance through this difficult journey.
