Donald Eugene Means, 83, of Milan, passed away Monday, December 12, 2022, at his residence. Memorial services are 12:30pm Friday, December 16, 2022, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation is one-hour prior at the funeral home. The service will be live-streamed and can be accessed at: https://www.wheelanpressly.com/live-stream. Inurnment with military honors will follow in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to the family.

Donald was born July 28, 1939, to John and Elnora (Skinner) Means. He served in the U.S. Navy and married Verna Pettyjohn on July 11, 1959, in Milan. He worked as a welder for over 40 years primarily at John Deere and Tri-City Fabrication. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Donald also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Verna; children, Donald Jr. (Tammy) Means, Brandenton, FL, Walter (Cheryl) Means, Davenport, IA, and Lisa (Tracy) Anderson, Long Grove, IA; grandchildren, Jennifer (Kevin) Raisbeck, Bloomington, IL, Mindy (Robert) Geiger, Ft. Wayne, IN, Justin Means, Rock Island, IL, Kayla (Hunter) VanBlaricom, Eldridge, IA, Kelsey Schmelzer, Park View, IA, Christina (Jeremy) Crocker, Davenport, IA, Amanda Anderson, Parkview, IA, and Marcus Anderson, Long Grove, IA; and great-grandchildren, Jamin, Devin, Sophie, Noah, Kamryn, Lainey, Baker, and Oliver.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Wilma Robinson, John Means Jr., Ralph Means, Roberta Russi, Robert Means, and Lloyd VanGilder.
