Donald J. "Punk" Guinn, 72, of Taylor Ridge, passed away Monday November 17, 2014 at home surrounded by his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Andalusia. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00pm Monday at the church, with a Christian Wake service recited at 4:00pm. Burial will be in Edgington Cemetery. Memorials may be left to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Donald was born on December 1, 1941 in Anchorage, Alaska, the son of Fay G. and Agnes J. (Lund) Guinn. At age 14, he became a ward of Zella Docherty with whom he then resided. He married Minerva Bivens on December 18, 1965 in Edgington.
He had been employed as a project manager at Trackmasters Inc., Silvis.
Mr. Guinn was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister. Mr. Guinn loved attending his grandsons sporting events and the Chilli Bowl Nationals in Tulsa every January. He also enjoyed watching Nascar, Chicago Bears football and the Fighting Illini.
Survivors include his wife, Minerva; daughters, Jody (Jim) Bell, Edgington, Donna (Shane) O'Neil, Otsego, MN; grandsons, Don (Ali) Bell, Champaign, IL, Tim Bell, Edgington, Mitch O'Neil, Otsego, MN, Nick O'Neil, Otsego, MN.; sister, Patricia (Jim) McManus, Edgington; special cousins, Don (Clarice) Docherty and Cindy Mueller, Reynolds, sister-in-law, Sue (LaVerne) Shellady, Edgington, brothers-in-law, Richard (Connie) Bivens and Randy (Cheryl) Bivens both of Moline, Tom (Mary Ann) Bivens, Edgington, and John (Linda Bivens) Reynolds; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Art Olson; special aunt, Zella Docherty; father and mother in law, Richard and Mary Bivens.
