Doreen Ann Sartor, 90, Rock Island, IL passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024 in Clinton, WI. There will be a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Grace Church, Rock Island. Burial at Preemption Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church.

Doreen was born on August 14, 1934 to Fern and Doris (Whan) LaMere in DeTour Village, MI. After graduating from Rock Island High School, she attended Augustana where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She would later earn a Master's from Western Illinois and an Advanced Certificate from the University of Illinois.

In 1959, Doreen began her career at Rock Island High School. She taught Physical Education, served as a guidance counselor and coached tennis and pickle ball until her retirement.

In July of 1973, she was united in marriage to Luigino "Gene" Sartor. They travelled often in the US and abroad. They also loved to dance and were both members of the Italian American Club. Doreen was an active member of First United Presbyterian, and taught their youth group for many years. Her favorite hobby was playing tennis and remained an avid player into her 80s.

She is survived by her brothers, Duane (Amy Jo) LaMere and David (Dixie) LaMere; nephews, Dane, Dreu and Sam LaMere; great-niece, Leslee LaMere; great-nephews, Cameron and Ethan LaMere; and longtime caregiver and friend, Raynette Piquett.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and infant nephew, David LaMere.
