Doris E. Boomershine, 93, of Rock Island, died Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Avonlea Cottage, Milan.  Funeral services will be 11 a.m. with visitation from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, June 2,  at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.  Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Moline.  Memorials may be made in care of First Free Evangelical Church, Moline or Heartland Hospice.

Doris was born on October 13, 1924 in Audubon, Iowa, a daughter of Donald and Gladys (Settlemire) Griffith.  She married Calvin "Cal" J. Boomershine on June 29, 1946 in Rock Island.  He preceded her in death on April 6, 2011.

Doris and Cal had been married for 65 years and resided in Rock Island.  They were members of First Free Evangelical Church, Moline, for many years.  They spent many years wintering at Pine to Palm Park in Weslaco, Texas.  Doris and Cal enjoyed being a part of the many activities at the retirement park and enjoyed church fellowship there as well.  Doris enjoyed her family coming to see her wherever she was living.  Doris and Cal both enjoyed playing golf.  She especially enjoyed working on her handmade crafts and selling them at craft shows in Texas.  She also enjoyed listening to Christian Radio for many years.

Survivors include her daughters, Sherry (Sam) Hess, Sterling, Ill. and Sue Greene, Rock Island; grandchildren, Theresa (Darren) Woeber, Andalusia, Karen (Rick) Hamann, St. Anthony, Minn., Troy Smithson, Rock Island and Jim (Stacey) Beuster, Washington, Ill.; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandson, Shannon Smithson and a brother Donald Griffith.
