Doris L. Weintraut, 80, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016 at her home.

Services will be 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at The Knox Chapel of Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 2106 - 7th Ave., Rock Island. Private family inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at The Knox Chapel of Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to BHASED- The Center or to Quad City Animal Welfare Center.

Doris was born April 14, 1936 in Graysville, Missouri, a daughter of Iola Lawson. She was previously married to Eric Weintraut. First and foremost she loved her family. Doris will be fondly remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all.

In earlier years, Doris worked at The Plantation, Hollywood Supper Club, Ben's Gourmet House and The Gay Nineties Restaurant, where she felt she met her second family. She retired from Export Packaging, Milan.

She loved spending time with friends and family, cared deeply for animals and listening to jazz music. She was a member of the Society to Prevent Cruelty to animals.

Suriviving are her daughters, Dawn (Stephen) Atherton, Moline, Maria Craig, Rock Island, and Erica (David Wallace) Lowry, Rock Island; grandchildren, James, Brian, and Tonya Atherton, Amanda (Jeremy) Trujillo, Jesse Atherton, Brandon (Amber) Weintraut, Desiree (Cory) Craig, Drake and Bryce Lowry; great-grandchildren, Emma Weintraut, Peyton Trujillo, and Makenna Mason.

Doris was preceded in death by her mother and her son-in-law, D.J. Lowry.
