Doris J. Wendt, 91, of Davenport, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2024, at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family with arrangements.

Doris was born November 18, 1932, in St. Francois County, Missouri, to Leonard and Geneva (Hamm) Barnes. She married Richard A. Wendt, and he preceded her in death in 2009. Doris worked at Servus Rubber and the Missouri Clothing Factory before retiring. She was a member of Community Baptist Church in Andalusia. She enjoyed spending time with her family and completing word searches. She also enjoyed her candy, especially gumdrops and jellybeans.

Survivors include her daughters, Wilma Sanders, and Roberta (David) Evans; 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Porter, and Ruth Hibbitts; and several nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; daughters Sandra Gitchell, Connie Winters, and Debora Hunter; brothers, Wesley and Chesley Barnes; 1 grandchild; and 1 great-grandchild.
