Dorothy A. Berg, 99, of Rock Island, formerly of Milan, passed away on Wednesday, June 10th, 2026, at Friendship Manor, joining her husband, Dick, in eternal rest. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 24th, 2026, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory in Rock Island, with visitation to be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to Christian Care Rock Island, Friendship Manor or Heartland Hospice.
Dorothy was born on December 13, 1926, in Solon, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Blanche (Wonick) Roe. She married Richard R. “Dick” Berg on March 28, 1947, in Rockford, Illinois. Dororthy worked at the Rock Island Arsenal, Bertrem Electric, Zayre’s Department Store, Malco Aluminum Doors & Windows, and the Illinois Secretary of State’s office in Rock Island and Moline before retiring in 1992.
Dorothy was a member of First Lutheran Church in Rock Island, IL. She was also a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Milan chapter. She loved going dancing with her husband Dick. Dorothy also enjoyed doing ceramics, with which she decorated her home and shared with many of her family and friends, especially at Christmas and other special family events.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Darald (Becky) Berg, Ackworth, Iowa, Rev. Donna (Chris) Fonner, Eleva, Wisconsin, Debbi (Bob) Swanson, Rock Island, Illinois; grandchildren, Laura (Tony) Petreikis, Rachel (Jerry) Cuppy, Clinton (Jill) Berg, Darren Berg, Alyssa (R.J.) Griep, Angela Lemke (Robby Dunn), Jennifer (Ken) Harris; great-grandchildren, Garrett, Kaylee and Nathan Petreikis, Megan Smith, Ryker Cuppy, Violet and Rowan Lemke, Lucas and Nicholas Harris, and Damien and Joslyn Griep; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents, Blanche Speers and Edward Roe; brothers, Edward Roe, Jr. and Lee Roe; sisters, Blanche Johnson, Violet DeToy, Helen Hood, Lola Shaw, and Irene Hall.
