Dorothy J. Gosney, 85, of East Moline formerly of Sherrard, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 28, 2015 surrounded by her son and daughter-in-law Tony and Shirley Gosney, friends and nurses at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.

Visitation will be from 1 PM to 3 PM on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Graveside service will be 12:30 PM Monday, June 1, 2015 at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Those wanting to attend Dorothy's service are asked to meet at the funeral home in Milan by 11:45 AM to go in procession. Memorials may be made to the family.

Dorothy was born August 16, 1929 in Ely, MO, the daughter of Clarence and Ella (Butler) Starmer. She married Albert P. Gosney on April 19, 1947 in Shelbina, MO. He preceded her in death on August 25, 2014. Dorothy worked at a cold storage in Shelbina and later worked for one in Rock Island. She enjoyed crafts, flowers, feeding birds, animal, and spending time with her family and friends.

Dorothy is survived by her three sons, Lindell (Linda) Gosney of Littleton, CO, Ronald (Tina) Gosney of Centennial, CO, and Anthony (Shirley) Gosney of East Moline, IL; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Gosney; parents; two sisters, Ella Sherwood and Alice Allensworth; and brother, Elmer Starmer.

Dorothy's family would like to thank all of the Hope Creek Caregivers and Staff that took care of her during her time at their facility.
