Dorothy M. Handley, 101, of Milan, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at St. Anthony's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Rock Island. Funeral services for Mrs. Handley will be 1 pm, Wednesday, March 6th, 2024, at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030-7th Avenue, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 11 am to the time of the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or to the American Cancer Society.

Dorothy was born on September 20, 1922, in Cincinnati, Ohio, a daughter of Earl and Clara (Koehler) Hicks. She married William Handley on November 28, 1941, in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1991. Dorothy had worked as a cashier at Eagles Supermarket and Jewel-Osco Grocery Store. Mrs. Handley was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. She enjoyed playing Euchre, gardening, and Bingo.

Survivors include her children, Sharon (Richard) Hillyer, Rock Island,  Dale (Angela) Handley, Rock Island, Craig (Debora) Handley, Milan; grandchildren, Thomas, Michael, Jennifer, Todd, Tamara, Timothy, Wendy, Stephanie, and Joshua; 12 great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, William; son, Gary Handley; and a grandson, David Handley.
