Dorothy Henson, age 64, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, surrounded by the unwavering love of her family. She was born on April 2, 1961, in Muscatine, Iowa, the beloved daughter of Andrew and Margaret Elfgen.

Her heart found its match when she married Victor Henson on August 29, 1983. Together, they nurtured a vibrant family of eight, creating a warm and inclusive haven for all. As the neighborhood mom, Dorothy opened her arms to countless children, both family and friends, providing them with a sense of belonging and love that will be felt for generations. 

She will be fondly remembered for her passions—gaming, crafting, and crocheting beautiful blankets, hats, scarves, and gloves. Her delightful collections of ducks and Grogu figurines brought joy to her heart, while her faithful animal companions offered her lasting comfort. Family camping trips, especially to Saulsbury Bridge and joyful adventures to Six Flags, remain particularly memorable to those she loved most.

She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Victor; her children: Tim Elfgen, Laura Henson, Jerimy Henson, and Victor (Ashley) Henson Jr.; and her adored grandchildren: Ethan Henson, Jerimy Henson Jr., Kianna Carroll, Marcus Carroll, Porschia Vasquez, Emerie Henson, Branden Smiddy, Austen Smiddy, Cileigh Smiddy, Samuel Hickman Jr., Katelyn Johnson, Alex Sedam, Loren Henson, Kaden Pass, Alex Olsen, Ana Elfgen, Gabe Elfgen, Abby Elfgen, Nina Eflgen, Alexis Elfgen and great grandchildren: Delilah Davis, Oaklyn Davis. Dorothy is also survived by her devoted sisters, Donna Roe and Janet Henderson, as well as many extended family members and friends who cherished her deeply. 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Robert Elfgen; her daughter, Nickie Misner; and her siblings: Dallas Elfgen, Frank Elfgen, Jeff Elfgen, and Chrissy Britton.

A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory in Rock Island, where family and friends will gather to honor Dorothy's life and celebrate her remarkable spirit. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy's name to any cancer society, reflecting her enduring compassion for others. 

Dorothy Henson's beautiful light will be profoundly missed, yet her love will continue to inspire all who were privileged to know her.
