Dorothy D. Woolley, 92, of Moline, died Friday, January 17, 2025 at the Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. A visitation will be from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island. A graveside service will follow at 1 pm at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made in care of the QC Animal Welfare Center, Milan.
Dorothy was born in Orion, Illinois on July 4, 1932, a daughter of George F. and Edna B. Brasmer Johnson. She married Wayne A. Woolley on October 26, 1948. He preceded her in death on October 2, 1961.
Dorothy worked 16 years as an activities director for the Rock Island County Health Department. She later worked as a bus monitor for 17 years at Johannes Bus Service, Rock Island, Illinois.
Dorothy was an avid animal lover. She was especially fond of her cats. She also enjoyed reading in her younger years.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Carol Nicholson, Rock Island; son-in-law, Ted Hauer; grandchildren, William Woolley, Jr., Daniel Woolley, Rick Nelson, Jr., Michael Smith, Tony Nicholson, Cindy Poell, Tracy Nicholson and Michelle Batterson; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, William W. Woolley, daughter, Sandra Hauer, son-in-law, Michael Nicholson, grandson, Brian Woolley, sisters, Helen Sales and Inez Woitte and brother, George Johnson.
Dorothy wanted to extend a special thank you to her dear niece, Kathy Abbott for the care and assistance she provided over the years as well as the nurses and staff at Hope Creek Care Center and Hospice Compassus for their wonderful care.
