Dorothy V. Schiess, 98, of Rock Island, formerly of Sherrard, passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island. Services for Dorothy will be 2 pm, Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sherrard Cemetery. Memorials may be made to New Life Fellowship, Moline or to the ARC of the Quad Cities.

Dorothy was born on September 3, 1922 in Bennett, Iowa, a daughter of William Petty and Linda Mueller Petty. She married Elmer Schiess on January 24, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1996. Dorothy was a homemaker. She was a member of New Life Fellowship, Moline. Dorothy enjoyed Bingo, Euchre, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Survivors include her children, Ken (Betty) Schiess, Milan and Daryl Schiess, Sherrard; grandchildren, Jennifer (Kevin) Peterson, Preemption, Jason (Calynn) Schiess, Matherville, Richard Schell, Rock Island; great grandchildren, Payton, Brady and Kinnick.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; sister, Henrietta Kirk; brother, William Petty.
