Dorothy A. Stancil, 86, of Rock Island, departed this life on Monday, December 16, 2019, at  home with her family by her side. Memorial services will be 2 pm, Friday, December 20, 2019 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Moline.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a memorial fund that will be established at a later date or to a charity of your choice.

Dorothy Melville was born on July 5, 1933, in Rock Island, daughter of Hal and Frances Melville.  She married Dorsey Stancil on July 28, 1951 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death in February, 1984. Dorothy was a homemaker and was famous for her lemon cake, cookies, banana bread and deviled eggs and loved to share her treats.  Dorothy loved flower gardening and could always be seen bending over picking flowers or pesky weeds. She was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, and the Moline Senior Citizens Center.  Dorothy cherished her times with her family and many friends and was a second mom to many and was always ready to go.

Survivors include her daughters and spouses, Carol and John Yeager, Rock Island, Dena and Jim Ward, Rock Island; grandchildren and spouses, Benjamin and Juliana Yeager, Matthew and Nicole Yeager, Neil Ward (Rachel Carlson), and Ryan Ward; great grandchildren, Holden, Ava, and Ethan; and a niece, Diane Westerman (Doug), Las Vegas, Nevada.
