Douglas "Doug" W. Slayden, 64, passed away on February 21, 2026, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity, Rock Island, Illinois. Doug was born in Moline, Illinois, August 1, 1961, son of Billy and Melva (Horn) Slayden.

Doug spent his working days as a tireless truckdriver. Doug was a true outdoorsman at heart, spending countless hours hunting, fishing, and enjoying everything that nature had to offer.

A big Chicago sports fan, Doug could often be found cheering on his beloved Bears and Cubs, no matter the season, that is when he didn't fall asleep and miss the best plays. His enthusiasm for sports didn't stop there-he would light up every time he watched his grandkids play, never missing a game, and celebrating their victories as if they were his own.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Per the wishes of the family, no services will be held as this time. Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Doug is survived by his children, Jessica (Ryan) Vidmar, and Thomas "Tom" (Kathy) Slayden; grandchildren, Grace Vidmar, Emalee Slayden, and Cooper Slayden; brother, Jamie Slayden; and close friends, Bill and Faye Baker.

Doug is preceded in death by parents, wife; and siblings, Greg Slayden, Jeff Slayden, and Terry Glaspie.
