IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Duane L.
Lamere
May 26, 1944 – September 7, 2025
It is with heartfelt sorrow and deep appreciation that we announce the passing of Duane L. LaMere, 81, of Rock Island, who died peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Silver Cross Pavilion at Friendship Manor. Duane's remarkable journey through life will be celebrated during a funeral service that will take place at 11 am on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Grace Church PC (USA) in Rock Island. A time for family and friends to gather and share memories will precede the service, with visitation from 10-11 am at the church. Following the service, Duane will be laid to rest at Preemption Cemetery in Preemption, Illinois. Duane was born on May 26, 1944, in Moline, Illinois, to Fern and Doris Whan LaMere. He led a fulfilling life marked by love and service. He married Leslee Carlson on November 25, 1977, and together they welcomed a son, Samuel. Though he endured the loss of Leslee on October 10, 2002, he found love again with Amy Jo Gregg, whom he married on January 7, 2012, at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Rock Island. An antique dealer by trade, Duane owned and operated LaMere Strippers, a furniture finishing company that exemplified his passion and dedication. Duane's love for his work was evident as he never truly retired. His early years were enriched by his involvement with the Peace Corps, a testament to his commitment to making a difference in the world. As a devoted member, deacon, and elder at Grace Church PC (USA), Duane demonstrated his unwavering faith and service to his community, previously holding the position of trustee at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church. Above all, Duane was a devoted family man, cherishing his loved ones and creating lasting memories with them. He is survived by his beloved wife, Amy Jo LaMere; his devoted children, Sam LaMere, Heidi (Kevin) Rettig, Amber (Steven) Katz and Kevin (Brianna) Pollock; and a host of grandchildren, including Sean, Miranda, Zachory, Hannah, Noah, Lucas, Natalie, Emma, Abby "AJ," Lucas, Logan, Lauren, and Leslee, as well as two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, David LaMere of Pekin, IL, and nephews Drew (Angie) and Dane LaMere. Duane was predeceased by his first wife, Leslee; a sister and brother-in-law Doreen and Luigino "Gene" Sartor; and sister-in-law Dixie LaMere. Memorials may be made in Duane's honor to the Marion Medical Mission, Grace Church PC (USA), or Friendship Manor.
