Duane L. "Peter" Hayslett, 63, of East Moline, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014 at his home.
Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Friday (10/10/2014) at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be presented by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 299. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
Duane Lee Hayslett was born Jan. 19, 1951 in Moline, a son of Alvie and Atlee Lyles Hayslett.
He had worked in security for Mennard's for 13 years.
Duane was a Vietnam War era Marine Corps veteran. He loved sports and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an author and several of his books have been published.
Survivors include his children, Tyrone (Fedelia) Ferguson, Chicago, Asha Hayslett, East Moline, and Jay Jamison, Moline; seven grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Charles "Sandy" Hayslett, St. Paul, Minn., Marlene Toney, Davenport, Iris Hayslett, Davenport, Ruby (Stanley) Flowers, Moline, Walter (Dorothy) Hayslett, Davenport, Evangelist Sharon Hayslett, Rock Island, Gloria (Danny) Weatherspoon, Milan, Marilyn (Bishop David) Walker, Davenport, Frances Marshall, Milwaukee, Wis., and Anthony "Tony" Hayslett, St. Paul, Minn.; and a host of other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; and five brothers.
