Dwight M. Wood, 88, of Edgington passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, Moline.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 9th at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 am on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Edgington Cemetery. Memorials may be made in care of Leader Dogs for the Blind.

Dwight was born on January 13, 1934 in Taylor Ridge, IL, a son of John "Ray" and Elsie (Wilkens) Wood. He graduated from Reynolds High School in 1952. He married the love of his life, Martha DuVall, on July 14th, 1957 in Davenport, IA. He worked in Quality Assurance at the Rock Island Arsenal for several years. After retirement, he enjoyed working for Enterprise Rental Car.

Dwight enjoyed woodworking, gardening, tinkering with things, camping, and traveling. Dwight and Martha truly enjoyed traveling and they had many adventures while riding cross country on their motorcycle.

Those left to cherish Dwight's memory include his wife, Martha Wood, Edgington; children, Don (Tammy) Wood, East Moline, and Linda (Tony) Gimble, Moline; grandchildren, Christina (Dan) Sperry, Erie, David (Lynn) Gimble, Murray, NE, Melissa Streator, East Moline, and Don Jr. (Sydney) Wood, Iowa, LA; great grandkids, Dristan, Austin, Andrew, Kayden, Bryson, Jared, Zachary, Ronin, and Rose; and brother, Henry Wood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Paulina Broadfoot, Marna Snow, and Elmer Wood; and sister in law, Nancy Wood.
