"Sam" Samuelson

E. Vergene "Sam" Samuelson, 93, of Milan, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at home with his wife, June, at his side. Services for Sam will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1st at First Presbyterian Church, 1620 1st St W, Milan. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at church. Following services, cremation rites will be accorded. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established later.
Sam was born on September 15, 1923 at his family's home in rural Henry County, a son of Elmer C. and Irene (Johnson) Samuelson. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was deployed in the African / Middle East Campaigns during the war as a Combat Medic Tech. Sam retired from Alcoa as a Machine Operator, following 31 years of service. Prior to Alcoa, he worked at Minneapolis-Moline for 10 years. He married Florence Wilke, who preceded him in death. He married June M. Otto on June 2, 1997 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Sam was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Milan and the Andover American Legion. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, dancing, playing cards and golfing.
Left to cherish his memory are; his wife, June; step-daughters, Christie Coverdill, Moline and Teresa (Steve) Karolek, Pewaukee, Wis., 10 step-grandchildren; 9 step-great grandchildren; a nephew, Larry Dahm, Las Vegas; and several other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Florence; sister, Dorothy Irene Dahm and step-son, Kenneth Otto
