Earl W. Smith, 87, of Moline, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at Cedarhurst Senior Living, Moline. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2022, at the Knox Chapel of Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 2106 7th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2022, at the Knox Chapel of Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.

Earl was born March 11, 1935, in Mercer County, Illinois, a son of Milford and Edna (Weikert) Smith. He married Ida Adamson on March 10, 1956, in Muscatine. She preceded him in death on April 2, 2019. Earl worked at the former IH Farmall Works for 30 years. He had a great sense of humor and loved listening to Bluegrass music. Earl also enjoyed camping and collecting Farmall memorabilia, especially tractors and belt buckles. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and was a caring and loving dad.

Those left to honor Earl's memory include his children, Richard Smith, Muscatine, Steven (Jane) Smith, Colona, Rose (Gary) Cavins, Rock Island, Connie (Mike) Bristol, Buffalo, and David (Carole) Smith Sr., Indianapolis, IN; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and one more on the way; 1 great-great grandchild; and sister, Wilma (Russell) Purviance, Muscatine.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ida; and brothers, Warren "Bobby" and Raymond Smith; grandchildren, David II and Christine; and great-grandchildren, Cameron and Tyler.
