Earnest Lee Vaughns II, 46, Moline, IL passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at his home. There will be a visitation from 2-3:00 PM with a memorial service following at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Memorials can be made in care of the family.

Earnest was born on February 22, 1977 to Sandra (Smith) and Earnest L. Vaughns in St. Louis, MO. When the family moved to Rock Island, he attended and graduated from Rock Island High School Class of '95.  In 2002 he earned a degree from Commonwealth Business College for Small Business Management and he also attended Northern Illinois University and Black Hawk College.  Due to his outgoing personality, he excelled in customer service when he worked at Family Video, CVS, and other retail businesses.

On his spiritual journey he found his calling and was baptized as a Christian in the Quad Cities. Earnest, who was lovingly called "Nesto" by his friends, enjoyed playing basketball and was an avid Miami Dolphins fan and football enthusiast. Music and dancing were two necessities that kept Earnest going and brought him comfort. Playing video games was another favorite hobby. One of Earnest's many passions was writing poetry and he often shared his poems with friends and family.

He is survived by his mother, Sandra; sister, Shondria (Matthew) Brady; son, Trevor Sims; nephew, Romeo Thomas; childhood friends, Torron Crawford and Colin Crutcher; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earnest L. Vaughns.
