A much-loved man, Edward A. Slach, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Monday, June 2, 2025 from esophageal cancer. His siblings were at his side and held him lovingly as he passed.

Cremation rites have been accorded. As per Ed's final request, there will be no funeral. He wanted a family picnic memorial, which will be held at West Lake Park, where Ed was the host of family reunions for many years.

Ed was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on February 11, 1951. His parents were Donald E. and Bernice M. (Blocker) Slach.

Ed lived in Moline, IL, on the Rock River and loved taking visitors out for a pontoon ride on the river or hanging out on the dock to visit and fish.

His latest job was working as a cremation specialist for Black Hawk Crematory in Rock Island.

Those left to cherish memories of Ed include his sisters, Susan J. (Mike) Anthony and Alice "Allie" M. (Steve) Doran; and brother, John L. (Linda) Slach. He also had many nieces and nephews that adored him.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Frank W. Slach.
