Edward "Ed" A. Thomas, 75, of Rock Island, passed away Monday, December 23, 2024, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA after a 7-year battle with cancer.

Burial will be next to his parents at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Shiloh, IL. A private grave side ceremony will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made in care of the family. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan is assisting the family.

Ed was born on August 6, 1949, in St Louis, MO, the son of Wesley J. and Anna M. (McNulty). He married Christine Hanny in 1970. Ed was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a computer operator for 35 years and retired from Scott Trade in 2015.

Ed was a sports fan and especially enjoyed boxing, golf, and bowling. He was an avid bowler who participated in leagues for many years back in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Ed loved the mountains and taking vacations to Branson, Missouri.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Angie (Brent) Sailer, Dewitt, IA, Jenny (Jim) Legare, Colona, IL, Eddie (Sarah) Thomas, Milan, IL; 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; and sister, Ann Gartland, O'Fallon, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Donald, Joe, Darlene, James, and John.
