Edward "NuNu" White Johnson Jr., 65, of Chicago, formerly of Rock Island, died Thursday, December 14, 2017 at California Gardens Nursing Center, Chicago.  Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, with visitation one hour prior to service time.  Burial will be at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Edward was born in Steele, Mo. on November 11, 1952, a son of Edward W. Johnson Sr. and Annie Mae Payne Johnson.

Edward was an aspiring artist in his youth.  In high school he liked woodworking and drawing.  During high school, he completed several woodworking projects, a 3-foot banjo, violin, fork and spoon, prior to the woodworking accident that disabled many of his fingers.  He also liked to sketch pictures of people and objects, and once took a correspondence art class.  Edward also enjoyed socializing with people his entire life and loved to tell jokes.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sisters, Pauline J. (William) Young, Fairfax, Va. and Deborah Fowler, East Moline; brother, Calvin L. (Olga) Johnson, Sr., York, Pa.; two nephews, Christopher T. Johnson, Rock Island and Calvin L. Johnson, Jr., York, Pa.; two nieces, Lynette E. (Shani) Eftekhari, Rolling Meadows, Ill. and Patrice Thomas, York, Pa.; and nine great nephews and nieces, Brandon, Jazmin, Jamar, Bashir, Kadence, Jahmir, Akyla, Annegeliese (Annie Mae) and Ta'Leeyah.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Henry William Young.
