Edwin J. Foss, 80, of Rock Island, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home & Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the family.

Edwin was born in Davenport on December 14, 1935, a son of Palmer and Helen Koehler Foss. He married Janet Hofmann in 1955 with whom he had two daughters. Janet preceded him in death in 2010. Edwin married Millie Gilmore on June 22, 2013 in Long Grove, Iowa.

Edwin worked as a parts manager for Lohse Automotive for several years before starting a career as an electrician for John Deere Company where he worked 40 years.

Edwin enjoyed smoking turkeys, painting, playing rolle bolle, gardening and photography. Edwin was known to make frequent and abrupt stops to take many beautiful pictures. He was also a HAM radio operator.

Survivors include his wife, Millie Koker-Foss, Rock Island; daughters, Bonnie (Scott) Wheeler, Charlotte, N.C. and Donna (Charles II) Schaffer, Hampton, Ill.; special daughters, Amy Jones, Eldridge, Iowa, and Dawn (Sterling White) Klinkner and Kristy Koker, both of Davenport; several grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Don (Nancy) Foss, Milan, James (Carolyn) Foss, Edgington and Robert Foss, Milan; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
