Elaine Y. Black, 80, formerly of Rock Island, died Wednesday, Apr. 8, 2015 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

Private services are Friday at the Memorial Park Mausoleum, Rock Island, where she will be entombed. There is no visitation. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the Qua City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.

Elaine Soderberg was born Aug. 22, 1934 in Beloit, Wis., a daughter of Bjarne and Norma Halvorsrud Soderberg. She married Richard D. "Dick" Black on Oct. 18, 1953 in Rock Island.

Elaine was the director of the Jack and Jill Day Care Center, Rock Island and later worked for Dr. Eduardo Ricaurte.

She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Elaine enjoyed reading and doing needlework.

Survivors include her loving husband, Richard; beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Cindi and Keith Bumgardner, Buckeye, Az., Julianne and Rodney Harper, Moline, and Lori and Bill Sheets, Moline; cherished grandchildren, Matt Cutkomp, Chris Cutkomp, Tarrah Reed, Lindsey Jones, Carey Sheets, Ryan Sheets, and Jacob Sheets; and seven precious great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Sonja Morgan; and granddaughter, Jenifer Cutkomp.
