Elaine Yvonne Eckles, 88, of Rock Island, passed away Monday June 30, 2014 at Clarissa C. Cook, Bettendorf, Iowa.

Services will be 1:00pm, Monday July 7, 2014 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00pm Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Island.

Elaine was born on November 24, 1925 in Burlington, IA, the daughter of Albert C. and Esther E.M. (Lundeen) Helm. She married Loxley T. Eckles III on September 21, 1946 at First Lutheran Church, Monmouth, IL.

She graduated from Monmouth High School and later attended Augustana College.

Mrs. Eckles had been employed at Augustana College for 25 years, retiring in 1987. She also served as a Republican Judge for elections at Alleman High School.

Elaine was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Island, Altar Guild and V.I.P.'s of Augustana College. She loved attending Circa 21 and the Quad City Music Guild.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan(Robert) Meldon, Chipita Park, CO.; son, Loxley T.(Karolyn) Eckles IV, Solon, IA; grandchildren, Matteson and Elise Meldon, both of Colorado, Jennifer Tomita, W. Des Moines, IA, Stephanie Eckles, Colorado, Melissa (Erick) Preuss, Cedar Falls, IA, Loxley T. "Lee" Eckles V, Leslie Eckles and Laura Eckles all of Solon, IA; great grandchildren, Nicole Tomita, Braddock Tomita. Ava Preuss and Marcus Preuss.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2002, her parents, infant daughter, Kristina; a brother and sister in law, Jack and Doreen Helm.
