Elaine Sand, 91, of Moline, died Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
Funeral services are 1 pm Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7 Ave., Rock Island. Entombment is in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation will be 4 to 7 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.
Catherine Elaine Smith was born July 18, 1925 in Toledo, Ohio, a daughter of Harvey and Beulah Rath Smith. She married Charles B. Sand on Nov. 6, 1948 in Moline. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1984.
Elaine had worked in the office of Dr. Dewat R. Chaudhry for ten years.
She enjoyed doing cross stitch and working at the Stitching House in Moline. In earlier years she had been president of the Garfield Elementary School P.T.A, Moline.
Survivors include her children; Charles R. Sand, Bettendorf, Julie A. Nelson, Carroll, Iowa, Christine S. (Steve) Jones, Orion, Theresa M. "Terri" Nelson, Rock Island and Daniel J. Sand, Moline; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; infant son, Michael G. Sand; brother and sister-in-law, Charles R. and Nancy Smith; granddaughter, Stephanie Jones; son-in-law, Brian Nelson; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Sand.
