Eleanor I Roets, 103, of Rock Island, passed away Monday April 19, 2021 at Silver Cross Nursing and Rehab, Rock Island.

Eleanor was born April 25, 1917 in Rock Island, the daughter of Elmer and Ida (Ludwig) Ackerman. She was a Rock Island High School graduate in 1935 and later married Camiel J. Roets on September 11, 1937 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on October 18, 1999.

Mrs Roets had been employed at the Rock Island Argus newspaper for over 20 years, last working in the circulation department.

She was the oldest member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Island, Ladies Society, Altar Guild. Eleanor enjoyed working in the Country Store in Friendship Manor. She also enjoyed walking, volunteer work and was a avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Survivors include her son, Terry (Sharon) Roets; Shawnee, KS; daughter in law, Joan Roets, West Des Moines, IA grandchildren, Dave (Deb) Roets, Heather (Dennis) Meade, Jeff (Jane) Roets, Tim (Mandy) Roets, Beth (Danny) Poulin; 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Camiel; son, Tom Roets; parents, Elmer and Ida; and brother, Robert Ackerman and daughter in law, Pamela Roets.
