ELEANOR DOROTHY (BLUME) BERGREN
Eleanor Bergren, 90, of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at St. Anthony's Nursing and Rehabilitation in Rock Island, IL.
A private funeral service will be live-streamed at 10:00 am Saturday, July 25, 2020. The funeral may be viewed by visiting www.wheelanpressly.com/live-stream. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Eleanor was born on June 7, 1930 in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of Otto and Gertrude (Becker) Blume. At the age of 10, she and her family moved from St. Paul to Rock Island, IL. Eleanor graduated from Immanuel Lutheran School and Rock Island High School. She was a member at Immanuel Lutheran Church for 80 years.
After high school, Eleanor worked at the Augustana Book Concern. There she met W. Robert (Bob) Bergren, whom she later married on June 1, 1951, in Rock Island.
Eleanor was employed for many years as a teller at Quad Cities area banks and later retired from Eagle Food Center in Milan. She was a member of the American Business Women Association.
Eleanor was a talented artist who did china painting and oil painting. She was a member of various china painting organizations and took oil painting lessons for many years from Willie Swain.
She enjoyed playing the piano, holiday baking, gardening, fishing with her husband Bob and spending time with family and friends especially her grandsons.
Eleanor was a wonderful wife, mother and "perfect" grandma, who was always kind, supportive and cheerful. She was blessed to have many dear friends in her life including Ellen Johnson, Ardith Sievers, Alice Shafer and Betty Johnson.
Those left to cherish her memory include daughter, Catherine Bergren, South Pasadena, CA, son, Stephen Bergren (Kristen), Moline; grandsons, Sam Bergren (Ashlei), Chicago, IL and Joe Bergren (Candice Philpot), North Hollywood, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Martin Blume and her husband Bob.
Eleanor's family would like to thank the Heartland Hospice program along with the staff at St. Anthony's for their kindness and support.
Memorials can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Island.
