Eleanor "Petty" Conwell, 90, of Rock Island, passed away Monday May 15, 2017 in Rock Island.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. No visitation is planned. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island, assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Petty was born January 2, 1927 in Dubuque, Iowa, a daughter of George and Eleanor Bettcher. She married John J. Conwell on September 28, 1946 in Rock Island, IL. He preceded her in death on August 16, 1985.

Petty retired from the Rock Island Arsenal following 25 years of service.

She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. She enjoyed playing Bridge, shopping, and most of all spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are her sons, James Conwell, Rock Island, and Paul Conwell, and his wife Alice, Rock Island; daughter, Diane Guyer, and her husband, Larry, Durant, IA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and special nieces, Kristine, Georgia, and Vicki Ellen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sons, Michael and Stephen Conwell.
