Eleanor W. "Mickey" Dotson, 93, of Moline, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021 at her home. Private services will be 11 am, Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Inurnment will at a later date in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Belgian Sheepdog Trust and Midwest Schipperke Rescue.
Mickey was born on July 19, 1927 in Ottumwa, Iowa, a daughter of Earl and Evelyn (Field) McNerney. She married Darrel "Bud" Dotson on July 20, 1944 in Tennessee. He preceded her in death. Mickey and Bud owned and operated Dotson's Jewelers for 25 years until it's closing in 1990. She was a member of Two Rivers United Methodist Church, Rock Island where she taught Sunday school for 30 years. She served as president in several organizations including Blanche B Wurbs and RI City Union Kings Daughters, Church Women United, and the In His Name Service League. Mickey was a District Officer of the United Methodist Women and volunteered at Project Now, the Rock Island County Senior Center and Friendship Manor.
Survivors include a son in law, James King, Taylor Ridge; grandchildren, Laura King (Robin Novack), Milan, Jana Behm, Maywood, ILL., Bob (Lisa) Berg, Antioch, ILL. and Brent (Lida) Berg, Metamora, ILL.; great grandchildren, Daniel "Trey" Behm III, Tori Behm, and Bobby Berg.
Mickey was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud; children, Sandra King, Bonnie Rice and Kevin Dotson; and seven brothers and sisters.
