Elijah David Ward, lovingly known by many as "Viper," passed away on September 13, 2025, just six days short of his 25th birthday. Born September 19, 2000, in Davenport, Iowa, Eli lived a life full of adventure, joy, and love that touched all who knew him.

Eli was adventurous in every way. He found passion in highlining, skydiving, kayaking, adventure racing, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, playing soccer and wrestling. More importantly, he cherished every moment spent with family and friends, always bringing light, laughter, and energy to those around him with no exceptions. His fearless spirit and love for life were truly contagious.

He is survived by his parents, Scott and Angie Ward; his siblings, Seth, Delaney, and Luke Ward; and a large extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, and cousins who adored him. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, David Ward.

A casual open house/visitation to celebrate Eli will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., with a tribute from his immediate family starting at 4:00 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, IL. Attendees are encouraged to dress casually—just as Eli would have wanted. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family. 100% of donations will be designated to charities supporting Eli's passions.

Following the visitation, in honor of what would have been Eli's 25th birthday, a picnic celebration will take place at Hollowview Park, 1700 Sun Valley Dr., Bettendorf, IA.  The event is open to all, and we will gather to do some boogin' and honor Eli's life and the joy he brought into the world.

Eli's adventurous heart, kind soul, and unwavering love will live on forever in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
