Elizabeth K. Ebel, 97, of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday January 25, 2017 at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island, with visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Elizabeth was born April 30, 1919 in Kewanee, IL, a daughter of Michael M. and Jennie (Leggins) Dura. She married Gene A. Ebel on Feb. 7, 1948. He preceded her in death on March 27, 2008. Elizabeth was a homemaker and will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island, and formerly a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island. She enjoyed caring for her home, family, gardening and reading.

Surviving are her children (and spouses), Janice (Bernie) Heaton, Moline, Susan (David) Hurlburt, Lafayette, LA, Nancy (Paul) DeDoncker, Ankeny, IA, and Richard Ebel, Pueblo, CO; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; sister, Helen Spanich, Davenport; brother, Edward Dura, Kewanee, IL; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters and two brothers.

Elizabeth's family wishes to express a special Thank You to the girls at Silver Cross Nursing Center and especially to Brenda her "adopted daughter" for their kindness and care.
