Elizabeth Marie (Fitzgibbon) Baren, 70, of Davenport passed away on June 20, 2024, at  Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 am on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport, with a reception to follow. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made in care of Humility Homes and Services.

Elizabeth was born on May 9, 1954, in South Bend, Indiana, a daughter of John and Elizabeth (Burke) Fitzgibbon. She graduated from St. Ambrose University in 1976 and  graduated from the University of Puget Sound in 1981 with a master's degree in literature. Elizabeth spent her career as an FBI special agent; prior to this she taught English.

Elizabeth loved animals, including her dog and cats, and animal welfare was a cause she supported. Elizabeth's hobbies included reading, music, and spending time with family. She sang in her church choir. Prior to her illness, she had volunteered at Humility Homes and Services, and she cared passionately about those experiencing acute or chronic homelessness.

Those left to cherish Elizabeth's memory include her siblings, John (Judy) Fitzgibbon, Margaret Osborn, Mara (Don) Adams and Tim (Julie) Fitzgibbon; eleven nieces and nephews; 12 great nieces and nephews; her AHS alumni friend group; special neighbors Rob, Krista, Owen and Noah Eckert; and her adopted cousins, Ellen Baren Stuckal and Laurie Baren D'Agostino.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Dave Osborn.
