Elizabeth "Liz" D. Fritchen, 98, of Rock Island, IL, passed away Thursday, May 29th, 2014, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Rockford, IL.Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Avenue Rock Island, IL. Reverend Dale Bolton will be officiating the service. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Park Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, IL.

Elizabeth was born December 15, 1915, the daughter of John H. and Anna K. (Frank) Koehler. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1934. From then on she served as office secretary at Washington Junior High School, Rock Island Senior High School, and for the Superintendent of Rock Island Public Schools (over 29 years), until she retired in 1966. Elizabeth was united in marriage to Howard Fritchen on May 28, 1960, in Rock Island, IL.

She will be remembered as the sweetest woman in the world, and how she always woke up with a smile and went to bed with a smile.

Elizabeth is survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. She was preceded in death her husband Howard.
