Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Schierling, 93, Milan, Il passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Avonlea Cottage. There will be a visitation from 4-6:00 PM on Thursday, November 17, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. The funeral service will be at 11 AM on Friday, November 18 at the funeral home. Burial at Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials preferred to Milan United Methodist Church.

Betty was born on December 26, 1928 to Lester and Alice (Pilcher) Hoefle in Rock Island. She graduated from Rock Island High School and then went on to receive her RN certification and worked at a clinic before starting a family.

Betty was united in marriage to Charles Schierling on March 19, 1955 at Milan Methodist Church where Betty was a lifelong member. The couple made their home in Rock Island where they raised their three children.

After her children were grown, Betty worked at the Rock Island County Health Department until her retirement.

She then helped take care of her two grandchildren whom she loved dearly and she cherished the time spent with them.

She enjoyed traveling with her husband and then with friends after his passing. Quilting was one of Betty's favorite hobbies and she made many for friends and relatives over the years.

Betty is survived by her children, Michael and David Schierling; grandchildren, Tianna Schierling and Kyle (Kristi) Schierling; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Kaitlyn Schierling, and one more on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Eric Schierling; granddaughter, Tara Schierling; and sisters, Carolyn Mueller and Linda Perkins.
