Obituary

Ella M. (Bowen) Williams, 103, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday March 16, 2017 at Silver Cross Health and Rehabilitation, Rock Island. Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2767-9th Street, Rock Island.
Ella was born on January 1, 1914 in Brundidge, Alabama, the daughter of Colonel and Ella (Talley) Bowen. She formerly resided in Akron, OH and Albany, NY.  She married Arthur Williams in 1954.  Ella was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on March 16, 1963 and devoted her time sharing the good news of God's kingdom as one of Jehovah's Witnesses (Matthew 24:14).  She also loved spending time with family, traveling and gardening.
Survivors include her children, Donna(Dennis) Tillman, Albany, NY, Gretchen Davidson, Covington, GA., Dorothy Parker, Rock Island; 22 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren, sister, Ina Webb, Akron, OH and brother, Emmanuel Bowen, Dayton, OH; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; son, Lamar Davidson; daughter, Corliss Horne; brothers, Abraham, Ezekiel, Isaac, Booker, Johnny, Colonel Jr., Garfield, and Rayfield Bowen; sisters, Pluncie Mitchell, Willie Bronson, Betty Chambers, Emma Willingham, Callie Burton, Alice Haygood, Jean Bowen, Lois Skipper, Elizabeth Barton and Ruth Bowen; grandsons, Courtney Young and Brett Horne; and one great-granddaughter, Jade Hill.
