Elnora C. Kempf, 87, of Bettendorf, formerly of Rock Island, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.  Funeral services for Elnora will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 4th Ave. E. , Milan.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Beulah Cemetery, rural Orion.  Memorials may be made in care of Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Elnora Corrinne Myers was born on June 16, 1929 in La Grange, Missouri, the daughter of Clarence Floyd and Alice Elnora Wilson Myers.  Due to the Depression, her family moved north and settled in the Sherrard/Milan, Illinois area.  Elnora graduated from Sherrard High School in 1947, and a few years later she made a bold move to New Orleans, Louisiana, staying for several years before moving back to Sherrard.  Elnora worked many different jobs in various professions during her lifetime, but was most proud of becoming one of the first Blackjack dealers in Illinois, working on the Casino Rock Island Riverboat.

Elnora had a passion for sewing, especially quilting, and she had a knack for stories and conversation.  She was a member of the Blue Cross Mission of St. Ambrose Church in Milan, and had also been a member of the Red Hat Wild Cats, a local branch of the Red Hat Society.   To those people who knew her, she was one of a kind.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Karen Nimrick of Milan; grandson, Remington (Amanda Carlson) Nimrick of Moline; and many other beloved family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
