Ernest E. "Don" Donaway, 75, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday January 19, 2019 at Clarissa Cook Hospice, Bettendorf.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4-7pm Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors presented by the United States Navy. Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation or Clarissa Cook Hospice House.

Ernest was born on May 19, 1943 in Moline, the son of Ernest and Florence (Scott) Donaway Sr. Don married Glenda K. Barlett in November of 1968. She preceded him in August 1971. He later married Regina Williams in August of 1978. She preceded him in death on March 11, 2018.

Mr. Donaway had been employed as a truck driver for Atlas International and later worked for Brown Leasing, Davenport. He was a United States Navy Veteran.

Don was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island and formerly attended St. Ambrose Church, Milan and had been active with Volunteer Auxiliary Police in Rock Island. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was an avid Nascar fan watching Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Junior, the Chicago Bears, Cubs and Illini.

Survivors include his children, Eric Donaway, Davenport, Heather (Don) Greiner, Davenport, Tina (Bob) Hantz, Roscoe, Brian (Jamie) Donaway, Bettendorf, Matthew Donaway, Rock Island; grandchildren, Johnny, Lee, Ben, Doniel, Ashley, Shane, Noah and Amelia.

He was preceded in death by wives, Glenda and Regina; parents, Ernest Sr. and Florence; sisters, Delores Elliott, Lorraine Dowdal and Ruth DePaepe.
