Essie L. Lunceford, 77, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday April 25, 2019 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm Friday May 10, 2019 at Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030-7th Avenue, Rock Island. The family will gather at 12:00pm to greet friends prior to services.

Essie was born on July 10, 1941 in Columbus, MS., the daughter of Bennie and Lizzie Morgan. She married Alfred Lunceford and he had preceded her in death.

Mrs. Lunceford had been employed as a cook with Kankakee County and later had worked as a Certified nursing assistant.

Essie loved spending time with her daughter and especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters, Diane Mayfield, Rock Island, Sherry Eggleston, Houston, TX, Jacqueline Eggleston, Minneapolis, MN, Loretta Eggleston, Rock Island; 15 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; siblings, Lorene Williams, Chars (Wayne) Virgil, Thomas (Lula) Morgan, Billy (Linda) Morgan, James (Robin) Morgan, Mattie Jordan; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Martha Eggleston; grandchildren, Chranda Eggleston and Richard Smith Jr., Rashawn Jackson Jr.; siblings, Lucille "Mary" Fortt, Gracie Smith, Irene King, Charlie Grace, William Morgan, Bennie Morgan, Wilma Morgan and Henry Morgan.
