Esther G. Egger, 93, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2015 at The Lighthouse, Silvis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am Friday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation will be from 4-7pm Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be left to Christ the King Church, Alzheimer's Association and St. Jude's Children Hospital.
She was born August 5, 1922 in St. Bernard, NE., the daughter of Elizabeth and Theodore Schroeder. Esther married Earl A. Egger on August 4, 1945 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death in 1993.
Mrs. Egger was employed for many years as the head baker at Rock Island High School. She enjoyed traveling, reading, watching programs depicting true or historical events and loved planting flowers and plants in the spring and watching them grow. Her special love was being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Esther was a member of Christ the King Parish, Moline.
Those left to cherish her memory include sons, Dan(Sue) Egger, Silvis, Dr. Richard(Sue) Egger, Geneseo, Larry(Mary Ellen) Egger, Franklin, TN.; grandchildren, Scott(Tara) Egger, Karrie Minch, Tim(Kristy) Egger, Dr. Paul(Jaclyn) Egger, Steven Egger, Laura(Matt) Ackley, Amanda(Adam) Krzeczowski, David Egger, Dr. Michael(Rachael) Egger, Molly Egger, Brian Egger; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Elmer(Lu) Schroeder; sisters, Eileen Kain and Lucille Kopetzky; sister in laws, Louise Schroeder, Lorraine Egger, Regina Egger; brother in law, Alvin Parr; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
The family would especially like to thank the staff of The Lighthouse and Hospice Compassus for their extraordinary care, compassion and support during our time of need.
