Ethel B. Martin, 89, of Taylor Ridge, died Friday, February 26, 2016 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island.  Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home & Crematory, Reynolds.  Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Illinois City Cemetery.  Memorials may be made in care of Augustana Public Radio Information Service (a service for the disabled), Rock Island.

Ethel was born in Rock Island County on Dec. 9, 1926, a daughter of Charles and Minnie Hartmann Mier.  She married Myron I. Martin on Oct. 29, 1947 in Reynolds, Ill.  He preceded her in death in 1988.

Ethel was a homemaker and hardworking farmwife.

She was active in the neighborhood club, garden club and wintered in Mesa, Ariz.  Ethel loved her cat, Boots.

Surviving are her children, David (Carol) Martin, Taylor Ridge, Larry Martin and his special friend, Donna Lloyd, Illinois City and Patty (John) Busboom, Tallahassee, Fla.; grandchildren, Jeff (Jessica) Martin, Monroe, Ga., Don Martin, Reynolds, Christy (Joe) Reid, Reynolds, Brad Busboom, Tallahassee, Fla. and Nick Busboom, Fairplay, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Desiree and Colton Reid; and a sister-in-law, JoAnn Mier, Joy, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Raymond Martin and siblings, Rosetta Schmidt, Julia Lenz, Florence Ziegler, Gladys Goode, Albert Mier, Ruth Mier and infant sister, Dorothy Mier.
