Evelyn R. Haronik, 95, of Rock Island, died Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Amber Ridge Memory Care, Moline.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island. Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum, Rock Island. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Monastery of the Visitation, 3020 N. Ballas Rd., St. Louis, MO 63131

Evelyn Mandel was born Feb. 18, 1919 in Coal Valley, a daughter of Oscar and Minnie Anderson Mandel. She married Alvin J. Haronik on Aug. 23, 1938 in Milan. He died Jan. 30, 1985.

Evelyn had worked as a receptionist at the former Villa de Chantal School for Girls, Rock Island.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island. Evelyn enjoyed sewing and gardening.

Survivors include her daughters, Sister Veronica Haronik V.H.M., St. Louis, Kathryn Hall, Silvis, Beverly (Richard) Rausch, Edina, Minn., and Cynthia Sullivan, Davenport; sons, James (Leonette) Haronik, Moline, Martin (Coni) Haronik, Milan, and John Haronik (Jeff Goldman), Sacramento, Calif.; son-in-law, Daniel VanLandegen, Aledo; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Theresa VanLandegen; brothers, Lester and Marvin Mandel; and sisters, Marian Mandel and Hilda Walczak.
