Everett James Nesseler, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the age of 78, in Rock Island, Illinois. He was born on July 12, 1947, in Moline, Illinois, to Bernard and June (Durick) Nesseler. Everett graduated from high school in 1965, and shortly thereafter, he joined the Marine Corps, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1968. His dedication to service exemplifies the spirit of a generation committed to the ideals of freedom and honor. On July 20, 1974, Everett married Joyce Bates. Everett was a passionate sports enthusiast, with an unwavering loyalty to the St. Louis Cardinals, the Green Bay Packers, and the Illinois Fighting Illini. He relished the time spent playing golf with his military and phone company buddies and enjoyed the thrill of driving his cherished Corvette. Everett is survived by his wife, Joyce; his daughter, Nicole (Patrick) Perion; and grandchildren, Katie Barrott, Bailee Perion, and Grayson Perion. He is also remembered by his brothers, Richard and Ralph Nesseler, along with his six remaining military friends, who shared many memorable moments throughout their lives. Everett was preceded in death by his parents; stepdaughter, Angela Dahm; grandson, Daniel Barrott; and siblings, Sharon Baraks, Bobby Nesseler, Leona Reynolds, Kenneth Reynolds, and Don Reynolds. In honoring Everett's lifelong commitment to family and service, a graveside service and military honors will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service should meet at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island by 10:15 am.
