Florence A. Summers, 90, of Gulfport, MS, formerly of Rock Island, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 at her home.  A funeral service for Florence will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7 ^th Ave., Rock Island.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Florence was born on January 30, 1927 in Aledo, a daughter of John M. and Martha O. (Hartin) Summers.  She was a homemaker who cared for her family.  She lived with her niece, Martha, and her husband, Tom, and helped to raise 4 generations of children in her family.  Florence loved spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews.  She also enjoyed playing bingo and cheering for the Chicago Cubs.

Florence is survived by her many nieces, nephews, other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Lorraine, Annabelle, Ethel, Vina Mae and Martha
