Floyd "Spoog" McKinney, 75, of Milan, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 17,
2014.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, with
visitation at 9:30 a.m., at Edgewood Baptist Church, 2704 38th St.,
Rock Island, IL 61201. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may
be made to Edgewood Youth Ministries. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home,
Milan, is assisting the family.

He was born April 26, 1939, in Boswell, Okla., the son of George and
Embrie Smith McKinney. He married Karla Spangler Nov. 23, 1958, in
Crawfordsville, Iowa.

Spoog was an enthusiast of all that is Western and cowboy, enjoyed
fishing, hunting, gardening with his wife, and camping with his
family. Spoog loved and provided for his adoring family as a skilled
craftsman, worked at Terminix and could build you anything you needed.
He was an Army sergeant stationed in Germany and was well liked and
respected by his friends and colleagues for his integrity, humor,
honesty and faith. Over the years Spoog enjoyed his church and was a
faithful servant teaching Sunday school and Bible study. A church
deacon and usher, he was always willing to step in wherever needed.

Survived by his wife, Karla; daughters, Joy (Bob) Pilcher, Janet
(Harold) Danger; and son, Jeff (Tina) McKinney; 11 grandchildren,
Marco, Isaac, Lance, Laura, Briana, Bethany, Khristin, Aaron, Sara,
George and Marte; plus eight great-grandchildren; along with his
aunts, Leota McKinney, J.V. McKinney and Patsy Medley.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
