IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Forrest “Bud”
Lee Miller
May 31, 1947 – November 20, 2024
Forrest Lee "Bud" Miller Jr., 77, of Milan, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Harmony of Davenport.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2024, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment with military honors will follow in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center in Bud's memory.
Bud was born May 31, 1947, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Forrest L. Sr. and Marian L. (McClean) Miller. He graduated from Quincy High School in 1965 and earned the Eagle Scout ranking in the Boy Scouts. Bud proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970 before being honorably discharged. He earned an associate's degree from Black Hawk College after leaving the Air Force and married Lavon K. Ferkel on October 15, 1983, in Edgington, Illinois. She preceded him in death on August 24, 2023. Bud was known to always agree with his wife, Lavon, whether it was true or not. His gentle and patient nature made him the perfect match for Lavon, and together they created a life full of harmony and shared memories.
Bud retired from the Rock Island Arsenal as a machine repairman. He was a member of the Milan American Legion Post 569. Bud enjoyed working on cars, working with tools, and spending time outdoors doing yardwork.
Bud will be remembered by his sister, Jill (Fritz) Mueller; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who loved him dearly and referred to him as "Uncle Bud."
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lavon; brother, Jack Miller; and beloved fur babies, Bandit and Kaylee girl.
Online condolences and memories may be shared with Bud's family on his tribute wall at www.wheelanpressly.com.
