Frances was born May 7, 1929, to Earl Glenn and Geraldine Wolf Heston.
She was the eldest of eight children. She graduated from Erie High School where she was on the cheerleading squad. She received her RN from Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing. She went on to work for Moline and Lutheran Hospitals and Mercer County Hospital. Later on in her career, she was the office nurse for Drs. John and Louise Souders in Rock Island. After she retired, she continued with her nursing career by being a volunteer for Dr. Movva Gastroenterology, in Moline. She was very proud of the work she put into getting her RN and her career as a nurse. She kept her nursing license current to this day. She married her husband, Richard H. Amy on Oct. 4, 1951. She and her husband were avid square dancers, starting with the group The Pepper Steppers. They danced all over the U.S. and even in Europe. Her two children, Rick and Reita, went to Sherrard High School where she will always be remembered for ringing her cowbell in the stands when her son played football. She then went on to cheer for her grandkids at Rockridge High School as they participated in football, wrestling, baseball, cheerleading and marching band. She enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and berry picking on her family farm. She always wore a myriad of turquoise jewelry that her husband made for her. She especially enjoyed the local craft fairs. Most of all, she adored her grandkids and great-grandkids.
She is survived by her husband, Richard, with whom she just recently celebrated 65 years of marriage; her son, Rick, wife Kay, of Illinois City; and daughter, Reita, husband Mike Kuster of Taylor Ridge; grandchildren, Steve (Staci) Amy of Princeton, Kevin (Kara) Amy of Taylor Ridge, and Keith (Courtney) Amy of Reynolds, Rickey (Krystle) Kuster and Matt (Chelsea) Kuster of Andalusia, Gail (DJ) Hahn of Rock Island; and great-grandchildren.
