Frances Louise Simmons, 93, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Rock

Island, died Friday, March 13, 2015, at Tatum Highlands A.C.H. in Cave
Creek, Ariz. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 am Monday, March 23, at St.
Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4
pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a rosary will be
recited at 1:30 pm. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery,
Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made in care of St. Pius X Catholic Church in

Rock Island.

Frances was born in Moline, Ill. on August 21, 1921, a daughter of
Leslie and Theresa Davis Miles. She married Santford O. Simmons on
October 10,1942, in Moline. He preceded her in death in 1998.

Frances was a homemaker who enjoyed playing cards and going to

the casinos with her Young at Heart Group.

Survivors include her daughter, Kaye Hovinga, Phoenix, Ariz.;

daughter-in-law, Renee Simmons, Bloomington,Ill.; grandsons, Troy

Hovinga, Phoenix, Ariz.; Treye (Tracy) Hovinga, Snoqualmie, Wash.;

Tye (Devona) Hovinga, Snoqualmie, Wash.; Jason (Sondra) Simmons,

Bloomington, Ill.; Brandon (Debra) Simmons, Webster, Texas;

great-grandchildren, Chase, Banner, Hayden, Hope and Cassidy Hovinga and

Nathan, Hanna, Mary and Elizabeth Simmons; sisters, Donna McWilliams,

Rock Island, and Betty Johnson, Simi, Calif.; brother, James (Juanita) Miles,

Whittier, Calif.; sister-in-law, Joyce Miles, Hendersonville, N.C.; and several

nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Wayne
Simmons, grandson, Teryle Hovinga, brother, John "Jack" Miles and sister,
Phyllis Fisher.
